Re: Employees Say - Health Wanted

Mind-blowing thought: Happy and healthy employees are more creative and innovative, improving workplace morale. You want these employees to stick around and like them to join your team. So why do organizations' leaders have a scarcity approach to health and wellness?

Because 70% of them already believe they provide enough access to health and wellness benefits through their online insurance portal and apps, while only 23% of employees agree, according to Aetna. Part of this disconnect is because humans are hardwired to feel seen, understood, and valued by others; we are not hardware. And when these needs go unmet in a community, workplace, or organization, we search for a new one.

A study cited by Harvard Business Review shows the impact of a healthy workforce on the work environment and the bottom line. No topic is more critical than employee engagement and motivation. Nine out of 10 people would take lower compensation to do more meaningful work. In addition, healthy, engaged employees perform better, experience less burnout, and stay in jobs longer.

The research cited by HBR, disengaged workers had:

  • 37% higher absenteeism

  • 49% more accidents

  • 60% more errors and defects.

Now we're talking about things getting expensive. So if your health care costs doubled from 2021 to 2022, your employees are anxious, stressed, unproductive, and burned out; how will that affect your bottom line if you keep ignoring the fundamental problems of not caring for your employee's health and well-being in a big way?

If your team works from different locations, there are still plenty of ways to help them feel better! First, could you try a virtual face-to-face group wellness workshop or program? It's easy to get to know each other from the privacy of your workspace. In addition, a virtual wellness offering is perfect for remote and in-office teams to get together, share, support, and encourage each other.

And that's what we do here at Wellness Five, LLC. We want to help you create the healthiest happiest workplace possible so you and your team can thrive.
